Amsterdam is a unique city in the fact that there are a lot of unique places to spend the night. For instance... a houseboat. Not many people can sleep on a boat which sits on a canal inside of a major city... in Europe! You could also rent out an apartment and feel like you truely live there. Renting apartments can sometimes be far cheaper than getting a hotel room especially if you are with 2 or more people. If you look around you can find alot of people renting out apartments and houseboats on the web for pretty cheap. You can sleep on a very nice one made for two or get a nice relaxing one for larger groups of 4-6 people. Some can even accomadate ever larger groups. There would be nothing quite amazing as walking out of your apartment or houseboat walking into a coffeeshop that is only 5 minutes away and smoking a spliff of Amsterdam's finest.
